MATTHEWS, N.C., Aug. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- PCA International, Inc.
(Nasdaq-NNM: PCAI) today announced the addition of Donald P. Greenberg to
its Board of Directors. Dr. Greenberg is Gould Schurman Professor of Computer
Graphics at Cornell University. He is a nationally recognized
leader in the fields of computer graphics and digital imaging, areas in which
the Company believes it has developed the most advanced technical capabilities
in the portrait industry. Dr. Greenberg is the founding director of the
National Science and Technology Center for Computer Graphics and Scientific
Visualization, a five-university consortium, and the author of numerous
articles in the field of computer graphics.
The Company also announced that it has entered into an agreement with
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., to operate permanent portrait studios in 15 Wal-Mart
stores in the Denver, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City markets. The agreement
provides for the studio openings to be completed prior to the start of this
year's Christmas season.
In April of this year, PCA's Canadian subsidiary entered into a five-year
agreement to operate permanent studios in Canadian Wal-Mart stores. The
Company presently operates 50 Canadian Wal-Mart studios with plans to open
additional Canadian studios before the end of this fiscal year.
