ImmuLogic Appoints a New Executive Vice President of Research and a New General Counsel

    WALTHAM, Mass., July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- ImmuLogic Pharmaceutical
Corporation (Nasdaq: IMUL) today announced the appointments of  J. Joseph
Marr, M.D. as Executive Vice President of Research/Chief Scientific Officer
and Daniel A. Cuoco as Vice President and General Counsel.
    "With the appointments of Dr. Marr and Mr. Cuoco, the senior management
team at ImmuLogic consists largely of seasoned executives who bring both
pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry experience to the Company," said Dr.
Robert J. Gerety, President and Chief Executive Officer.  "Our ability to
recruit the highest caliber management at this time in the Company's
development is testimony to the strength and proprietary position of our
technological base, to our near-term product potential and to the
biopharmaceutical business we are building."
    Dr. Marr was Senior Vice President, Discovery Research at Searle Research
and Development from 1989-1993 where he was responsible for discovery research
as well as  early development of new drug candidates.  Dr. Marr held academic
positions from 1982 to 1990 including Professor, Department of Medicine and
Department of Biochemistry and Director of Clinical Laboratories at the
University of  Colorado Health Sciences Center.  From 1970 to 1982 he was
employed by St. Louis University School of Medicine where he rose to the
position of Vice Chairman, Department of Medicine and by Washington University
School of Medicine where he was Director, Microbiology Laboratories.  From
1993 to present, Dr. Marr has held the position of Vice President, Research
and Development at Ribozyme Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Marr received his M.D. degree
from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
    Mr. Cuoco was employed for more than twenty years with Squibb Corporation
rising to the position of  Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary
and a member of its Board of Directors.  Following the merger of Squibb and
Bristol-Myers in 1989, he was Senior Vice President and Corporate Counsel to
the combined pharmaceutical operations of Bristol-Myers Squibb and, from 1991
to 1992, held the position of Vice President and General Counsel of Biogen
Inc.  Most recently, Mr. Cuoco has been a consultant to various companies in
the healthcare industry, including ImmuLogic Pharmaceutical Corporation.  Mr.
Cuoco received his J.D. degree from Columbia University.
    ImmuLogic Pharmaceutical Corporation is a biopharmaceutical company,
located in Waltham, Massachusetts, developing peptide therapeutics to treat
allergies and autoimmune diseases.  ALLERVAX(R) products to treat cat and
ragweed allergies are in late stage clinical development.  The Company's lead
autoimmune candidate for the treatment of multiple sclerosis is scheduled to
enter the clinic later in 1996.  In addition to treatments for allergies and
