ImmuLogic Appoints Two New Members to Board of Directors and Hires Chief Strategic Officer

    WALTHAM, Mass., Sept. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- ImmuLogic Pharmaceutical
Corporation (Nasdaq: IMUL) today announced the appointments of Samuel C.
Fleming and Paul A. Friedman, M.D. to ImmuLogic's Board of Directors, bringing
the number of board members to eight.  In addition, Alan W. Tuck, has joined
the company as Chief Strategic Officer.  Mr. Fleming is Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer of Decision Resources, Inc., a healthcare research and
consulting firm.  Dr. Friedman is President of Dupont Merck Research Labs.
    "Mr. Fleming's expertise in strategic planning for the healthcare industry
and Dr. Friedman's extensive drug development and clinical experience make
these executives extremely qualified additions to our Board of Directors,"
commented Dr. Malcolm Gefter, Chairman of the Board.  "In addition, their
skills complement those already existing on the board, and will be valuable as
we shape ImmuLogic's future."  Dr. Robert Gerety, President and Chief
Executive Officer added, "Mr. Tuck brings substantial senior management

lead role in guiding our corporate collaboration efforts.  These appointments
are additional steps in building a superior senior management team and a Board

    Mr. Fleming has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Decision
Resources, Inc. since 1990 when he led a buyout of the firm from Arthur D.
Little, Inc.  From 1983 to 1990, Mr. Fleming was Senior Vice President, a
member of the Management Group and a well-known strategic consultant at Arthur
D. Little, Inc.  Earlier, he was President of Arthur D. Little Decision
Resources, which he founded in the mid-1970's.
    Dr. Friedman has been President of Dupont Merck Research Labs since 1994.
From 1992 to 1994 he was Senior Vice President of Merck Research Labs and from
1985 to 1989 he was employed by Merck Sharp & Dohme Research Labs rising to
Executive Director and Head of the Department of Pharmacology.  Prior to 1985,
Dr. Friedman held clinical and academic positions at Boston hospitals and
academic institutions, including Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School,
Children's Hospital Medical Center and Peter Bent Brigham Hospital.
    Alan W. Tuck was President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the
Board of Directors of T Cell Sciences from 1992 to 1996.  From 1987 to 1991 he
was Vice President Marketing & Business Development at Biogen.  Prior to 1987,
Mr. Tuck's experience includes four years as a consultant at Bain & Co. and
thirteen years with Cummins Engine Company.  He serves on the Board of
Directors of Genzyme Transgenics and the Board of Associates of the Whitehead
Institute.
    ImmuLogic Pharmaceutical Corporation is a biopharmaceutical company,
located in Waltham, Massachusetts, developing peptide therapeutics to treat
allergies and autoimmune diseases.  ALLERVAX(R) products to treat cat and
