ATLANTA, Ga., Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Preferred Networks, Inc.
(Nasdaq: PFNT) (PNI), one of the largest carrier's carriers of exclusively
wholesale one-way paging network services, today announced that it has
completed the previously announced acquisition of substantially all the assets
of Big Apple Paging Corporation ("Big Apple"), a reseller-based paging carrier
operating on the 152.60 MHz frequency in the states of New York, New Jersey,
and Connecticut. FCC approval of the license transfer occurred August 30,
1996.
PNI is a wholesale provider of high-quality, reliable one-way paging
network services. As a carrier's carrier, PNI markets its networks to
traditional resellers of paging services and to paging carriers and resellers
that own their own switching terminals which are connected to PNI's switching
centers. PNI's strategy is complemented by its centralized network
architecture and use of a low-cost, high-power paging frequency for which it
is licensed or has licenses pending nationwide.
