Red Brick's Specialized Data Warehouse RDBMS Joins Acxiom's Extensive
Demographic, Socio-Economic and Lifestyle Information
LOS GATOS, Calif., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Brick(TM) Systems,
Inc. (Nasdaq: REDB), The Data Warehouse Company(TM), and Acxiom(R) Corporation
today announced an agreement to combine Acxiom's consumer-based data
warehousing and decision support capabilities with Red Brick's data warehouse
relational database (RDBMS).
The result is a solution that can enable decision makers in many
industries to access, analyze and utilize Acxiom's extensive demographic,
socio-economic and lifestyle information to make better customer-focused
decisions. The Red Brick/Acxiom relationship also will provide companies with
an open data warehousing and decision support strategy that minimizes capital
investment, reduces implementation time and creates a migration strategy to an
in-house solution.
Acxiom builds and manages all aspects of data warehouses and DSS
applications for large consumer-based Fortune 1000 companies in
telecommunications, finance, insurance, retail and publishing. Red Brick
is a leading provider of RDBMS products and service for data warehouse
applications.
"Acxiom is a recognized pioneer in data warehousing and decision support
services, while Red Brick is an acknowledged pioneer in data warehouse RDBMS
technology," said Peter Grey, manager of worldwide channels for Red Brick.
"The obvious, natural advantages of the combination of our expertise and
offerings present a powerful and compelling solution for any company seeking a
competitive edge."
"The inclusion of Acxiom's extensive demographic, socio-economic and
lifestyle data with Red Brick's RDBMS technology further enriches the DSS
analytical capabilities that help companies better understand the customer
characteristics affecting their business," said David Wilson, business
executive for Acxiom's Channels Business Unit. "Red Brick's specialized data
warehouse RDBMS is the right technology to take full advantage of the richness
and currency of the oceans of data we provide."
In addition to external consumer demographic, socio-economic and lifestyle
data, Acxiom will complement Red Brick's technology with data integration and
enhancement services. As part of the data warehouse development process,
Acxiom will provide National Change of Address (NCOA), address
standardization, delivery sequence file coding, deduplication processing and
appending of external data from Acxiom's InfoBase(TM) consumer database.
"Acxiom's Decision Support Integration Lab evaluated the Red Brick
relational data warehouse products on various hardware platforms. This
certification process has enabled us to dramatically reduce the implementation
time requirements to build a data warehouse for our customers," added Wilson.
