Red Brick, Vento Software Partner to Provide Decision Support
                     And Executive Information Solutions

    LOS GATOS, Calif., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Brick(TM) Systems, Inc.,
The Data Warehouse Company(tm), and Vento Software today announced a joint
marketing and reseller agreement to proovide data warehouse- and data mart-
based business application solutions for the banking, retail,
telecommunications and distribution industries.
    Vento will develop and resell turnkey decision support (DSS) and executive
information (EIS) solutions with its VentoMap and VentoSales products in
combination with Red Brick Warehouse, the industry's only relational database
(RDBMS) specifically designed for data warehouse and data mart applications.
    Vento's client/server products utilize on-line analytical processing
(OLAP) on the client and a relational database on the server.  Data is
extracted from legacy systems and consolidated into Red Brick Warehouse.
Vento's front-end applications enable senior level executives and middle
managers to access information quickly, analyze and understand product and
customer mix, use maps to perform geographical analysis, slice information on
multiple dimensions at any aggregate or detail level, view trends and perform
cause and effect analysis.
