Red Brick Establishes International Operation in Australia; Data Warehouse
    Products Now Available in 18 Additional Countries Through Distributors

    LOS GATOS, Calif., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Brick(TM) Systems, Inc.
(Nasdaq: REDB), The Data Warehouse Company(TM), today announced a major
expansion of its operations and distribution channels outside the United
States to meet the growing demand for Red Brick data warehouse software
products in Europe, Asia/Pacific and the Americas.
    Red Brick has established its second international operation -- Red
Brick Systems Australasia Pty. Ltd. -- to serve Australia and New Zealand.
Red Brick's European headquarters located in the United Kingdom -- Red Brick
Systems U.K. Ltd -- has grown significantly with the addition of specialists
in retail and financial services since its establishment in late 1994.
    Red Brick also has signed distributor agreements covering 18
countries:  Croatia, Denmark, Finland, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia,
Mexico, Monaco, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Slovenia, Spain,
Sweden, Thailand and Turkey.

    Red Brick Opens New Australia Entity, Expands European Headquarters
    Red Brick Systems Australasia Pty. Ltd. has officially been launched
to serve Australia and New Zealand.  Anton Ferreira has been named managing
director of the new operation.  He formerly was sales manager, database
products, of Platinum Technology's operations in Australia.

giving us a head start in opening up the Australian data warehouse market,"

expanded its operations with the recruitment of retail market specialist Tony
Conte, and financial services market expert, Tony Sidebottom, both formerly of
Sybase.
