30,000 Readers of Technical Journal for Oracle Users Vote Red Brick Warehouse
Highest-Rated RDBMS in DSS, OLAP Category
LOS GATOS, Calif., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Brick(TM) Systems, Inc.
(Nasdaq: REDB), The Data Warehouse Company(TM), today announced that readers
of OTJ, the Technical Journal for Oracle Product Users, rated Red Brick
Warehouse highest among all databases in the Decision Support/OLAP category of
its "1996 Best Product Awards" program survey. The results were published in
the Fall 1996 issue of OTJ available now.
Red Brick is a leading provider of relational database (RDBMS) products
and service for data warehouse applications. Red Brick Warehouse is a
high-performance, open, client/server RDBMS designed specifically for data
warehouse and data mart applications.
The OTJ awards ballot was included in the Spring issue. It consisted of
339 products listed in eight categories. The purpose was to determine which
products OTJ's readership prefers in each of eight categories.
Red Brick Warehouse received eight percent of the votes in the Decision
Support, OLAP category, tying for the second-place Silver award with Oracle
Data Query. Red Brick Warehouse was highest rated among RDBMSs in this
category. BusinessObjects received 10 percent of the votes in the category to
receive the first-place Gold award. No Oracle database product received
enough votes to place in this category.
"We obviously are very pleased to be thought of so highly by database
professionals in Oracle shops who have a choice of products," said Steve
O'Brien, director of product marketing for Red Brick. "In fact, we hope to
work more closely with them in the months ahead, especially when we deliver
our new Red Brick Warehouse 5.0 in the fourth quarter."
OTJ Editorial Mission
OTJ focuses on the technical needs of Oracle product users. The primary
editorial focus is on the implementation and management of Oracle's database
Oracle7, but OTJ also covers development strategies and researches various
application tools (both Oracle and third-party tools). OTJ's goal is to help
Oracle DBAs and developers understand and manage their Oracle-based systems,
and give them tools they need to solve their day-to-day problems.
OTJ, from the publisher of Database Programming & Design and DBMS
Magazine, is the only independently published technical journal for Oracle
product users. OTJ serves database professionals, working in Oracle shops,
with technical, unbiased, solutions-oriented editorial written by experts in
the field.
According to OTJ editor Kathleen O'Connor, "OTJ's 30,000 readership
includes a concentrated number of strategic titles that span from VP/Directors
of IS to Senior Database Administrator Managers to Application Developers and
Systems Integrators. This influential group of decision makers are setting
corporate standards for the high growth companies that Oracle serves."
