OTTAWA, Sept. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Fulcrum Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: FULCF;
Toronto: FUL) today announced the availability of an add-on product for
Fulcrum(R) SearchServer(TM) that enables full-featured indexing and retrieval
for PC DOCS(R) DOCS Open(R).  The Fulcrum Bridge for PC DOCS will allow
searching on the contents of documents, as well as on the profiles of the
documents, and provides all the rich functionality of advanced information
retrieval software.  It is scheduled to ship at the end of September.
    Beta customers of the product include SHL Systemhouse Inc., MCI's global
systems integration and outsourcing company; the International Monetary Fund;
and CGI Group, the largest Canadian-owned systems integration and outsourcing
firm.

    The Fulcrum Bridge extracts the data from DOCS Open repositories, and
puts the information into SearchServer tables that can be retrieved by
SearchBuilder(TM) EXPRESS on the desktop, or by custom applications.   The
Fulcrum Bridge includes a monitoring agent that automatically synchronizes the
SearchServer tables to ensure that users are searching on the most current
information available. In addition, the Fulcrum Bridge understands and
respects the user permissions and schemas created by the DOCS Open product.
Later this year, Fulcrum will release ActiveX controls specific to this
product to enable client-side access to the same SearchServer tables using
popular Web browsers.

    In addition to strict Boolean searches, the product will enable users to
conduct searches using Fulcrum's exclusive Intuitive Searching(TM) (a powerful
similarity searching feature), proximity searching, and fuzzy Boolean
searching.  In addition, the integrated product provides features that are the
hallmarks of sophisticated search software and some that are exclusive to
Fulcrum, including:  stop words, relevance ranking, search-term highlighting,
date and numeric range searching, wildcard searching, term-variants,
thesaurus, word-list lookup, database integration, user-defined result list
sorting, Intuitive Searching, and more.

    Pricing and Availability
    The Fulcrum Bridge for PC DOCS will be available from Fulcrum at the end
of this month.  North American pricing begins at US$500 per server. Additional
