SAN FRANCISCO, March 18 /PRNewswire/ --  the good guys! (Nasdaq: GGUY),
the California based consumer electronics retailer with 76 stores in four
Western states, announced today that it will launch Divx-featured DVD players
and a broad selection of Divx movie discs in the San Francisco Bay Area when
the product is introduced this spring.
    the good guys! 19 Bay Area Stores will initially carry the Zenith-Inteq
Divx-featured DVD player, shortly followed by RCA-brand models.  Additional
models from Panasonic and ProScan will be added by this Fall.  More than
150 Divx movie titles from Disney, Paramount, Twentieth Century Fox, Universal
and DreamWorks will be available by the end of the summer, growing to more
than 500 by next spring.

    Divx is a revolutionary new system for watching feature movies at home.
Consumers purchase a special encrypted movie disc for a suggested retail price
of about $4.50.  Included in the purchase price is a two-day viewing period,
but unlike videotape rentals, the viewing period does not begin when consumers
leave the store, but only when they play the disc on the Divx player for the
first time, either on the day of purchase, the next week, or months later.
Divx discs do not have to be returned, so consumers never incur late fees.
Additional viewing periods, as well as an option to convert the disc to
unlimited play, can be purchased through the Divx player over your phone line.
Divx featured players can play all basic DVD and CD software, but the modestly
priced Divx discs cannot be played on basic DVD players without the Divx
feature.
