AURORA, Colo., March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Pak Mail Centers of America, Inc.
experienced the healthiest year in its 13-year history in 1997. With a
profitable bottom line, record franchise sales, and impressive international
expansion, Pak Mail demonstrates how a commitment to sound business practices
pays big dividends.
Fiscal year 1997 marks the third consecutive profitable year with each
year's profits exceeding the previous year. The company has improved from a
$628,000 loss in fiscal 1994 to a net income of $328,000 in fiscal 1997. The
$956,000 improvement is the direct result of the focus to increase the number
of successful franchises, control operating costs, and closely monitor the
quality of support to each individual franchisee. Since the beginning of
fiscal 1994, the number of operating Pak Mail centers has increased 35%, and
same center sales have increased 19%. The company has improved its royalty
income from franchisees by 47% and overall total revenues by 31% since fiscal
1994.
Pak Mail's international development has been another significant area of
growth. A master agreement executed in late 1997 for Japan represents the
eighth foreign country in its worldwide expansion. Similar master agreements
are in place in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Canada, Venezuela, New Zealand and
Australia. There are 325 franchises operating in the United States.
The utilization of advanced technology has played an important part in Pak
Mail's progressive development. The company website is averaging 40,000 -
45,000 hits per month. The company also formed a significant alliance with
Fran One (http://www.fran-one.com), whereby a potential franchise investor may access
comprehensive information about the franchise opportunity, as well as the
required disclosure documents, via the World Wide Web. Pak Mail has developed
an innovative software program, Planning for Success(TM) (PFS), which has
enabled their franchise partners to focus on the financial aspects of their
business. "By using PFS, I know where I am on a daily basis so that I can
easily determine what actions I must take to achieve my budget," says Henry
Simonetta, a Pak Mail franchise partner since April, 1997.
As validation of its success, Pak Mail has received the 1997 Income
Opportunities Platinum Franchise Relations Award and the southern region area
developer was awarded the 1997 Franchisee of the Year Award by the
International Franchise Association.
"1997 was a very rewarding year for Pak Mail. We are now living the
vision that we had in 1990 of stability, profitability and healthy growth. We
plan to move forward with the same vision towards growth while we support our
franchise partners and pursue strategies which will enable them to be even
more successful," says Pak Mail CEO John Kelly.
