CHICAGO, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- EVEREN Securities, Inc. today announced
the formation of a new investment banking and research team covering the
telecommunications industry. The group, which focuses on wireless services
and hardware, wireline telecommunications providers, networking and
infrastructure, is co-headed by Stuart H. Mason, senior managing director,
corporate finance, and Mark A. Roberts, managing director, equity research.

industry requires a fully dedicated team to fulfill the need for capital to
finance that expansion," said Edward E. Dunleavy, executive vice president and

for investment opportunities in the sector."
EVEREN's telecommunications group consists of investment bankers and
equity research analysts who provide a full range of financial services,
including public underwritings, private placements of equity and debt, and
financing for mergers and acquisitions. The group also provides strategic
counsel and advisory services to public and privately held corporate clients.
Mason, who was managing director and head of the emerging growth and
technology capital markets team at Principal Financial Securities, Inc. since
1996, joined EVEREN in January when EVEREN Capital Corporation (NYSE: EVR)
acquired Principal Financial Securities. Previously, Mason spent 10 years at
Dain Bosworth, most recently as a managing director. He holds a bachelor's
degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn. and a master's degree in
business administration from the University of Minnesota.
Roberts joined EVEREN in February from Montgomery Securities, where he was
a research analyst. Prior to that, he was an analyst with Alex Brown & Sons.
Previously, Roberts was a chief financial officer for public and privately
held companies in the transportation industry. A chartered financial analyst,
certified public accountant and certified management accountant, Roberts holds
a bachelor's degree from Indiana University.
