ST. LOUIS, March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Brown Group, Inc. (NYSE: BG) today
announced that Ronald A. "Ron" Fromm, age 47, has been appointed President of
Brown Shoe Company. He replaces Thomas A. Williams, age 49, who has left the
company to pursue other business interests. This announcement was made by
B.A. Bridgewater, Jr., Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive
Officer. Brown Shoe Company is a member of Brown Group, Inc.
Mr. Fromm most recently served as Executive Vice President of Brown
Group's Famous Footwear division, an $800 million branded footwear retail
chain of more than 800 stores headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin. He has
played a major role in the expansion and success of Famous Footwear, which is
Brown Group's largest and most profitable division. Mr. Fromm has served on
Brown Group's Operating Committee since 1992. He joined Famous Footwear in
1986 as Director of Finance and was promoted to Vice President in 1988, to
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in 1990, and to Executive Vice
President in 1992. Prior to his joining the company, he was Vice President
and Account Executive with the Heath Corporation, a management and financial
consulting firm.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Mr. Fromm holds a
Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master of Business
Administration degree. He will be relocating with his wife Cheryl and two
daughters, Dawn and Dana, from Madison, Wisconsin to St. Louis.
