Palmer Wireless in Roaming Agreement with AT&T Wireless

    FT. MYERS, Fla., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Palmer Wireless, Inc.
(Nasdaq: PWIR) today announced that it has signed a roaming agreement with
AT&T Wireless to provide digital PCS services in its wireless markets.
Palmer's systems in Florida, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina are
compatible with the infrastructure of the new PCS network of AT&T and will
enable AT&T subscribers to receive their digital PCS services over Palmer's
network.
    In addition to the roaming revenue benefits, Palmer expects to start
marketing digital PCS services in its markets during 1997, with an initial
test market later this year.  This upgrade will provide advanced bundled
cellular services including text messaging, caller identification,
conversation security and longer battery life.
