Enhanced Searching For Microsoft Exchange Server, Gains Private Folder
                    Support, Support For Reusable Queries

    OTTAWA, Canada, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ - Fulcrum Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:
FULCF; TSE: FUL) today unveiled an new version of Fulcrum FIND!(TM) ,
available from Fulcrum(R)  and Fulcrum FIND! resellers immediately.  The new
version gains features and enriches the searching capabilities it provides for
the Microsoft(R) Exchange Server messaging environment.  Fulcrum FIND! 1.1 is
the first update to a product that was released in April of this year, and it
is the only information search and retrieval product available for Microsoft
Exchange Server that has been certified to carry the Designed for Microsoft
BackOffice(TM) logo.
    Among the enhancements in this version are the ability to search personal
mailboxes in Microsoft Exchange Server, and the ability to save queries for
re-use, by creating Fulcrum FIND! ``Views''.  In addition, Fulcrum's product
now supports searching on the properties of custom forms used in Exchange.
Users may also choose which properties are displayed in result lists.

    The Department of Management Services must comply with a law that requires
that e-mail messages sent and received within state government departments
need to remain accessible for seven years, in order to respond to potential
public inquiries.  With the huge databases of email that the law will create,
and with a need to search message attachments, Fulcrum FIND! provides an
attractive solution.  The fact that the product comes with a viewer for
multiple document formats, including the diverse products that have been used
in various government departments, such as WordStar, Microsoft Excel,

    NEW FEATURES IN FULCRUM FIND! 1.1

    MAILBOX SEARCHING - Users may now search on any mailbox folders they have
access to stored within Microsoft Exchange Server.  Multiple mailbox folders
and shared public folders may be searched at the same time.  Mailboxes are
easily administered, in a manner consistent with Fulcrum's public folder
indexing.
    FULCRUM FIND! VIEWS - Fulcrum FIND! Views provide a convenient way for
users to save any portion of commonly used queries, so that they can be used
again and again to search for new information on a particular subject.  Users
may name and save query preferences to the file system or as a favorite on the
Fulcrum FIND! client View menu.
    SUPPORT FOR MICROSOFT OUTLOOK(TM) - In addition to its ability to work
with Microsoft Exchange client software, Fulcrum FIND! 1.1 is designed to work
with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Corp.'s new desktop information application.
    SEARCHING ON CUSTOM FORM FIELDS - Fulcrum FIND! 1.1 can be used to index
and search on the unique fields of custom forms designed to work with Fulcrum
FIND! in Microsoft Exchange.
    USER CONTROL OVER SEARCH RESULT COLUMNS - Users may now define which
columns are displayed in the Fulcrum FIND! list of retrieved items.  Columns
may contain any standard message property (such as size, date received,
subject), document property (like author, company, create time), or a field
from a form that was designed for use with Fulcrum FIND!
    SUPPORT FOR ADOBE(R) ACROBAT(TM) PDF FILES - Fulcrum FIND! now supports
the indexing and searching of Adobe Acrobat PDF documents.
    INTERNATIONAL VERSION - With Version 1.1, Fulcrum FIND! will be available
in an international version, in November.0 ,!Jnternational version contains
the Fulcrum FIND! server interface in English and client interfaces localized
in four languages: English, French, German, and Italian.  In addition,
linguistic tools, including thesaurus and spelling tools, are available for
thirteen languages including, English (American and UK), French, German,
Italian, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazilian and European), Dutch, Swedish, Danish,
Norwegian, and Finnish.

    Fulcrum FIND! 1.1 retains the key benefits of version 1.0, such as: tight
integration with the client and administrative tools of Microsoft Exchange
Server for ease of use; advanced information retrieval features that allow
users to search through multiple folders at the same time, including the full
text of files, messages, and attachments - including most common document,
spreadsheet, and presentation files;  Fulcrum's exclusive Intuitive
