The Fifth of 10 Planned in U.S.
ATLANTA, Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Preferred Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: PFNT)
(PNI), a wireless carrier's carrier and one of the largest wholesalers of
paging network services, today announced that construction of its fifth
technical control center (TCC) has been completed serving as the engineering
operations hub for PNI's 157.740 MHz paging system in the North Central
Region, which includes Michigan, Ohio and parts of Indiana.
Executive Vice President of Engineering Gene Kreeft and Vice President of
Sales Gary Park have recruited initial key personnel for the region. "We are
poised and ready to begin introducing PNI and its superior network and service
benefits to our target customers," stated Kreeft. The paging network is in
final testing, and PNI's resellers will begin activating end users by mid-
November. This is a continuation of the company's efforts to complete its
paging networks nationwide. The TCC is located in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
PNI also has in operation the Southeast TCC (Norcross, Georgia), Mid-
Atlantic TCC (Laurel, Maryland), Northeast TCC (Poughkeepsie, New York), and
MidWest TCC (Wheeling, Illinois). Each of these TCC's controls several
markets from its strategically placed operation within its region. The TCC's
engineering design provides consolidation of equipment and personnel,
resulting in a lower-cost engineering operation platform.
PNI is a wholesale provider of high-quality, reliable one-way paging
network services in the U.S. At June 3O, l996, the Company had more than
2OO,OOO units active on its networks or under agency agreement in its 16
operational markets. As a carrier's carrier, PNI markets its networks to
resellers of paging services and to paging carriers. PNI's strategy is
complemented by its centralized network architecture and use of a low-cost,
high-power paging frequency for which it is licensed nationwide. Network
construction is underway in 18 new markets as part of PNI's expansion
strategy, 14 of which are among the top 50 U.S. metropolitan markets.
