LOS GATOS, Calif., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Brick(TM) Systems, Inc.,
(Nasdaq: REDB) The Data Warehouse Company(TM), today announced the promotions
of Phil Fernandez, 35, to senior vice president of products and service, and
Ron Barale, 38, to vice president of support and service, both newly created
positions.

service that have become a hallmark of Red Brick leadership and a mainstay of

Fernandez and Barale have made to the development, delivery and support of Red
Brick's data warehouse products and service, and support our company-wide
efforts to address high growth and global reach."
Fernandez had been vice president of product development and support since
joining Red Brick in 1991. In the new position, he will be responsible for
worldwide consulting and education, product development and customer service.
Fernandez has led the design and development efforts for Red Brick's recent
versions of its industry-leading relational database, including Red Brick
Warehouse 5.0, the newest version designed specifically for data warehouse,
data mart, data mining, on-line analytical processing (OLAP) and database
marketing applications.
Prior to Red Brick, Fernandez was director of system software development
at Metaphor, Inc. and director, data and technology resources, at Stanford
University and the Stanford University Medical School. Fernandez holds a
bachelor's degree from Stanford University.
Barale, previously director of customer support, will retain those
responsibilities while additionally managing worldwide consulting and
educational services.
Barale joined Red Brick in 1994 as director of customer support. Prior to
Red Brick, he was director of post-sales support at Uniface Corporation,
responsible for building that company's North American technical support
organization. He was instrumental in achieving consecutive Computerworld
customer satisfaction awards for Uniface against competing vendors Gupta and
Powersoft. Barale attended San Jose State University, where he majored in
Computer Science.
