Fulcrum Bridge For Informix To Add Advanced Information Retrieval
                                To Database Apps

NEW YORK CITY, Dec. 3 /PRNewswire/ - Fulcrum Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:
FULCF; TSE: FUL) today announced its plans to develop a new Informix
DataBlade(R) module, the Fulcrum(R) Bridge for Informix. Fulcrum's product
will provide customers with seamless access to their text and information
assets stored within INFORMIX(R)-Universal Server. Informix provides Fulcrum
customers a proven and scaleable database backbone for enterprise information
retrieval and multi-media applications that incorporate Fulcrum's powerful
retrieval software, SearchServer(TM).
``The Fulcrum Bridge for Informix will deliver our advanced search
capabilities to Informix users, and it solidifies our leadership among the
information-retrieval vendors in understanding and adopting the standards of
the database world,'' said Peter Klante, vice president of marketing at
Fulcrum. ``Fulcrum is known for providing advanced information-retrieval
software that scales to meet enterprise requirements. The unique strengths of
Fulcrum SearchServer for retrieval solutions where multiple languages and
multiple document formats are a factor, as in large-scale commercial and
corporate publishing applications, position us to provide a valuable DataBlade
module to the Informix community.''
``Fulcrum is a leader in helping companies leverage their information
assets,'' said Linda Myers-Tierney, industry analyst, consultant and
principal of Myers-Tierney & Associates. ``They have been successful by
focusing on their core strengths and by providing an ever richer feature set
in information-retrieval solutions. In adopting the standards of the database
world and in delivering a DataBlade module, Fulcrum can give their customers
the flexibility to develop multi-media applications.''
``Fulcrum is a leading player in information search and retrieval
software,'' said Dave Cope, general manager of the Informix DataBlade
Business Development Unit, Informix Software, Inc. ``Customers will benefit
from seamless access to Fulcrum information repositories stored within
Informix databases, with all the advanced retrieval functionality they have
come to expect from Fulcrum products.''
``The enterprise customer increasingly needs applications that `bridge the
islands of information' in their organization,'' added Klante. ``The Fulcrum
Bridge for Informix will allow customers to implement multi-media
applications, using Informix as a back end and plugging in other DataBlade
modules that are appropriate. INFORMIX-Universal Server provides an ideal
platform for the storage and management of information assets, and a secure
platform for our customer's applications.''
