Humana Appoints Chief Information Officer

    LOUISVILLE, Ky., Jan. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) has
announced the appointment of Carol McCall as Chief Information Officer.  Most
recently, McCall has served as a senior actuary and consultant focused on
managed care issues in the Seattle, Washington office of Milliman and
Robertson.
    In her role with Humana, McCall will assist the corporation's senior
management team with its effort to use information to link the design,
execution and integration of corporate strategy.
    "We have said repeatedly that as part of Humana's quest to differentiate
itself in the marketplace, the company intended to make substantial
investments in long-term information systems initiatives," said Gregory H.
Wolf, Humana President and Chief Operating Officer.  "Carol McCall's unique
systems expertise, combined with her industry perspective, will allow us to
move strategically in this critical area."
    In addition to her work with Milliman & Robertson, Carol McCall has more
than ten years experience as both chief information strategist and actuary for
several group health insurance companies.  She earned a B.S. degree in
actuarial science from the University of Iowa and remains an active associate
in the Society of Actuaries.
    "With the addition of a Chief Information Officer, as well as with the
recent appointments of a corporate Chief Medical Officer and Chief Financial
Officer, Humana has now completed the strategic reorganization of its senior
management team," said Wolf.
