HOUSTON, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- CORESTAFF, Inc. (Nasdaq: CSTF), one of
the largest national providers of information technology and staffing
services, announced today that Business Management Data (BMD), a wholly owned
subsidiary, has been awarded its first Year 2000 project since being acquired
by CORESTAFF, Inc. in April 1997.
BMD has been awarded a multi-year, multi-million dollar project by CSX
Technology (CSXT), a subsidiary of CSX Corp. (NYSE: CSX), to ensure its
mainframe applications are Year 2000 compliant. The CSXT mainframe
application portfolio exceeds 40 million lines of code. Much of the project
work will be conducted at BMD's offshore development centers in India using
its proprietary Target 2000 processes, methodologies and tools. The offshore
facilities provide access to highly trained technical resources, and BMD has
already installed dedicated communication links connecting its offshore
centers to CSXT.
CSX Corp., headquartered in Richmond, Va., is a leading international
transportation company offering a variety of rail, container-shipping,
intermodal, trucking, barge and contract logistics services. For the past two
years, BMD has been performing maintenance of CSXT mainframe systems. The
experience gained by BMD in working with CSXT will be leveraged during the
Year 2000 systems conversion project.
In commenting on the Year 2000 project, John Andrews, president of CSXT,
said, "An extensive Year 2000 pilot evaluation spanning several months
combined with BMD's competitive onsite and offshore capabilities clearly
demonstrated to us their ability to manage this difficult and critical task."
Andrews further stated, "For seven consecutive quarters, BMD has exceeded the
CSXT provided maintenance service level commitments. This was a key factor in
awarding this follow on assignment to BMD."
Michael T. Willis, CORESTAFF's president and chief executive officer,
added, "BMD brings a new service capability to our clients, and we look
forward to capitalizing on both their proprietary Year 2000 processes and
their extensive offshore and onshore resources. We expect to introduce BMD to
a number of our other Fortune 500 clients."
Headquartered in Irvine, Ca., BMD is a leading systems integration and
consulting firm providing a comprehensive range of information technology
solutions, including systems integration, computer code maintenance and
support, systems re-engineering, Year 2000 conversions and application
development services for legacy and client/server technologies. BMD
specializes in mission-critical 24-hour, seven-day-a-week support to selected
Fortune 500 clients. BMD also has developed proprietary Year 2000 tools,
called Target 2000, in the AS/400 environment for enterprise assessment and
actual conversion. With its dedicated and experienced team of consultants,
both in the United States and India, and proven methodologies, BMD can provide
complete solutions to the many information technology needs of its clients.
