VIENNA, Va., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- GRC International (NYSE: GRH) today
announced it has been awarded a five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-
quantity (ID/IQ) task order contract by the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL).
This is the fourth consecutive prime contract awarded to GRCI by NRL to
provide research and development (R&D) support to the NRL's Airborne Radar
Branch. The contract has a potential value of $10.4 million. The three
contracts previously awarded by NRL to GRCI in 1992, 1993 and 1995 resulted in
revenues of approximately $1.1 million, $2.5 million and $5 million,
respectively.
Tasks performed under the contract will primarily be research and
development efforts focusing on automatic target recognition; enhancements to
fleet radars; next generation airborne early warning radar systems; littoral
surveillance and targeting; wide-area surveillance tests; and advanced radar
signal processing algorithms. GRCI anticipates that the first series of task
orders for this new contract will be issued in July 1997.
GRC International Chief Operating Officer Dr. Gary Denman said, "The
Navy's requirement to operate in a littoral environment has placed new demands
on existing radar systems. This important work is critical to the addition of
new capabilities to these systems and the win reaffirms the leading-edge
capabilities of our scientists and engineers in radar signal processing and
automatic target recognition."
Subcontractors working on the new program include: System Planning Corp.,
Arlington, Va.; IMSI, Woodbridge, Va.; Wagner & Associates, Arlington, Va.;
and Micromat, Rockville, Md. The NRL is the United States Navy's research and
development laboratory and addresses basic research issues.
