COLUMBIA, Md., June 20 /PRNewswire/ -- GSE Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: GSES), a
leading global provider of integrated enterprise software and information
solutions to the energy, process and manufacturing industries, today announced
that its GSE Power Systems, Inc. subsidiary has been awarded two contracts by
Teollisuuden Voima Oy (TVO) of Finland totaling over $1 Million to upgrade the
hardware and software of the Olkiluoto Unit 1 Operator Training Simulator.
TVO operates two boiling water reactor power plants in Olkiluoto, Finland.
These plants are annually at the top of the list of the most efficient nuclear
plants in the world. The original simulator was delivered by GSE Power
Systems in 1990.
Under these new contracts, GSE Power Systems will upgrade the simulator's
thermohydraulics and neutronics programs using GSE's patented, RELAP-based
THEATRe(TM) model, as well as its two-group REMARK(TM) neutronics model. This
high fidelity upgrade will allow TVO to train their operators on "local
criticality" and other sophisticated primary system responses. In addition,
the simulator software will be re-hosted on new UNIX-based computers. The
total project will be completed in approximately twelve months.
"TVO is a very technically discriminating customer and carefully
considered all available technology," stated Jerry Jen, a Senior Vice
President of GSE Systems. "We are pleased to be able to continue our long-
standing relationship with them."
