TOKYO and LOS GATOS, Calif., Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Brick(R) Systems,
Inc. (Nasdaq: REDB), The Data Warehouse Company(TM), today announced its
expansion into the burgeoning market for data warehousing solutions in Japan
with the opening of Red Brick Japan Co. Ltd. and the signing of four of the
country's leading independent distributors.
Red Brick also named Fumitaka Tezuka as managing director of its new
Japanese headquarters. Tezuka had been president of Bay Networks Japan K.K.,
which he grew from zero to $90 million in annual revenues in three years.
Red Brick Japan Co. Ltd. will be responsible for the marketing and
promotion of Red Brick products and service in Japan by assisting with the
company's relationships with and support of its distributors. The
headquarters also will provide channel support for the systems integrators,
consulting partners and resellers recruited by the four distributors. The
distributors signed are:
* Beacon Information Technology - a leader in the Japanese software
industry for more than 20 years with an extensive range of solutions from
mission-critical system development to implementation of data warehouses.
* Digital Equipment Corp. Japan - a wholly-owned subsidiary of Digital
Equipment Corp. (NYSE: DEC), founded in 1968, specializing in marketing
computers, components and related services that enable customers to create the
networked enterprise.
* NEC - Red Brick Warehouse will be offered as the primary data warehouse
and data mart product in NEC's "Enterprise Data Warehouse Solution."
* Teijin System Technology Limited - well-known for its early adoption of
advanced technology and focus on three main business areas: business solutions
to large IT users, packaged software and public sector and medical solutions.
"The market for data warehousing in Japan is one of the most ideal in the

believe Red Brick Warehouse is the only RDBMS suited to the high-performance
and specialized analytical requirements of these businesses."
"We are pleased and honored to be working with our four distinguished
distributor partners and we look forward to a successful relationship with
each," said Tezuka.
