RICHMOND, Va., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The Board of Directors of James
River Corporation (NYSE: JR) announced today that it has elected Barbara L.
Bowles, president of the Kenwood Group, Inc. of Chicago to join the board.
Her election raises from 10 to 11 the number of James River board members.
In 1989, Ms. Bowles, 49, founded the Kenwood Group, a registered investment
advisory firm that manages pension, endowment and public funds. Previously
she had served as vice president, investor relations at Kraft, Inc. in
Chicago, as an assistant vice president at Beatrice Companies and vice
president of the First National Bank of Chicago.
A Nashville native, Ms. Bowles graduated in 1968 from Fisk University with
a B.A. degree in mathematics, and received her MBA in 1971 from the University
of Chicago. Ms. Bowles serves on the board of Black & Decker Corporation and
she is a lifetime member of the NAACP, and a director of the Chicago Urban
League. Also, she is a member of the board of the Children's Memorial
Hospital in Chicago.
