Cox Interactive Media Taps Scott Bateman to Lead New Interactive
Studio in Dayton
DAYTON, July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Interactive Media (CIM) today
announced the hiring of Scott Bateman to lead its interactive studio and the
development of its upcoming city site in Dayton. CIM will leverage its
relationship with other Cox-owned media in the city to develop a lively
interactive studio that will give Dayton residents the opportunity to
experience the next level of Internet development -- building community
online. The Dayton Studio joins other CIM local studios across the nation,
such as Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte and Orlando.
A master of technology, Scott Bateman is leading the Dayton Studio into
cyberspace. Prior to joining CIM, Bateman was the director of electronic
publishing at Cox Ohio Publishing, where he managed audiotext, fax and
Internet services. Previously, he was director of information services at the
Dayton Daily News, where he was responsible for niche print products as well
as interactive and library services.
"With an audience of 155,000 Internet users in the Dayton area, it is a
perfect Internet match for Cox Interactive Media," said Peter Winter,
president of Cox Interactive Media, headquartered in Atlanta, Ga. "The Dayton
Studio will allow us to provide a 'locals-only' flavor with dynamic and robust
content in a functional format."
"I'm excited about being a part of the Dayton Studio," said Bateman. "We
have a number of very talented people here who also have strong community
ties. We will be able to draw on the experience of Cox-owned newspapers and
radio and television stations in the Dayton area, so the content we produce
will be uniquely geared toward our community's interests," he said.
Cox Interactive Media (http://www.cimedia.com), a newly formed subsidiary of Cox
Enterprises, has created local city sites, such as AccessAtlanta
(http://www.accessatlanta.com) and Austin360 (http://www.austin360.com). These city sites
provide users specific information unique to their communities as well as
opportunities for online interaction with other users through community
bulletin boards and chat rooms. Specialty sites like FASTBALL
(http://www.fastball.com) and Y'all (http://www.yall.com) have also been established to
focus on specific topics which have regional or national appeal. Through the
advent of studios like the one established in Dayton, CIM will provide vital
interactive links between local, national and worldwide communities. In 1997,
CIM will launch more than 20 additional studios in metropolitan areas across
the country.
A leading media company, Cox Enterprises, Inc. includes Cox Newspapers,
Inc. (newspapers, direct mail marketing, book publishing), Cox Broadcasting,
Inc. (TV, spot sales, movie/television production, research, publicly traded
Cox Radio, Inc.) and publicly traded Cox Communications, Inc. (cable
distribution, programming, broadband communications) in addition to Cox
Interactive Media. The company is the world's largest operator of automobile
auctions through Manheim Auctions, providing financial services, government
auctions, online services and price guides.
