LA JOLLA, Calif., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Agouron Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
(Nasdaq: AGPH) today announced a reorganization of its senior management.
Dr. Barry D. Quart, formerly Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, has been
appointed Senior Vice President, Head of Drug Development. In this role, Dr.
Quart will have responsibility for coordination of all activities leading to
registration of drugs generated by Agouron's research pipeline. R. Kent
Snyder, has been named Senior Vice President, Head of Commercial Affairs. In
this role, Mr. Snyder will have responsibility for business development and
all activities directly involved in commercialization of Agouron's products.
William C. Denby, formerly Senior Director, has been promoted to the
position of Vice President, Head of Sales and Marketing. Donna C. Nichols,
formerly Senior Director, has been promoted to the position of Vice President,
Head of Corporate Communications. Michael D. Varney, Ph.D., formerly Senior
Director, has been promoted to Vice President, Head of Research and will
succeed Dr. Robert Jackson who has left the company to pursue other interests.
Stephanie Webber, Ph.D. has been promoted from Senior Director to Vice
President, Head of Development Pharmacology. Finally, Dr. Marvin A. Brown,
President of Alanex Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Agouron, has
also been named Vice President.
In addition to these changes in Agouron management, incumbent executive
officers Dr. Neil Clendeninn, Steven Cowell, Gary Friedman and Glenn Zinser
have been named Corporate Vice Presidents and, respectively, Head of Clinical
Affairs, Chief Financial Officer, General Counsel, and Head of Operations.
Peter Johnson remains Agouron's President and Chief Executive Officer.
