HOUSTON, July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- American General Corporation (NYSE: AGC)
today announced the election of Ellen H. Masterson to the position of senior
vice president and chief financial officer. In this position, Masterson will
be responsible for several parent company departments, including treasury,
controller, and tax.
Masterson, 46, joins American General from Coopers & Lybrand L.L.P. where
she began her business career in 1973. She was named partner of the firm in
1985. Masterson was a business assurance advisor and consulted principally
with financial services companies on merger and acquisition-related
activities, including transaction-based accounting, taxation, and post-merger
integration. She was a key member of the firm's national merger and
acquisition practice for the life insurance industry.
A native of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Masterson received her B.A. degree in
mathematics from Emory University in 1973 and her M.B.A. degree from Southern
Methodist University in 1978. She received her CPA designation in 1977, and
is currently a member of the Insurance Accounting and Systems Association and
the Texas Life Insurance Association. Masterson served as Chair of the Audit
Advisory Committee of the Texas State Treasury from 1991 to 1993.
