CHICAGO, May 13, 1997 - EVEREN Securities, Inc. and LaSalle National Bank
today announced that they have formed an alliance to provide EVEREN clients
with a full range of trust administration, fiduciary and investment management
services. The agreement, which is effective immediately, requires no capital
investment from either participant.
Under the terms of the alliance, LaSalle National Bank will become a
preferred provider of personal trust, fiduciary and trust administration
services to those clients of EVEREN Securities who desire them. EVEREN will
have sole investment management responsibility for those trust accounts that
name LaSalle as trustee.
"We are very excited to be able to offer our clients access to personal
trust services from one of the most respected organizations in the business,"
said John G. Sullivan, senior executive vice president and director of

deepening our full-service relationship with clients, this alliance allows us
to enhance our asset-gathering capabilities and thereby further build EVEREN's
client services and asset management businesses."
Bruce Callow, executive vice president of wealth management at LaSalle,
said, "EVEREN offers the unusual combination of a national branch office
network that gives us an opportunity to expand our client base, plus insight
into the complexities of the personal trust business that we require of an
alliance partner."
Accounts for which LaSalle is appointed trustee will be managed by
specially trained trust services investment consultants through EVEREN
Solutions managed money programs, including Masters, Portfolio Management and
Fund Allocation. The trust services investment consultants will be trained by
EVEREN University in the principles of fiduciary responsibility, investment
strategy and asset allocation to provide a full range of investment management
services to trust clients.
LaSalle will provide custody, record keeping, tax, audit and accounting
services as well as distribution of account statements, and will assign trust
administrators to fulfill all trust fiduciary responsibilities and conduct
periodic reviews and asset verifications in accordance with regulatory
requirements.
