GMAC Commercial Mortgage Teams Up with Leukemia Society as Local Presenting Sponsor for Fall Marathon Series

PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- GMAC Commercial Mortgage
Corporation, the nation's largest commercial mortgage banker, will serve as
the local presenting sponsor of the Leukemia Society of America's Team In
Training program to be held this fall in Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlantic City
and Dublin, Ireland, to raise funds for research and patient service.
Announcement of the financial support was made today by Kevin R. Ryan,
president of the board of trustees of the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter, and
David E. Creamer, president of the Horsham, Pa.-based GMACCM.
Nationally, contributions exceeding $22 million were raised last year
through Team In Training, which uses long distance running and walking as a
symbol of endurance and hope and unites individuals and businesses to help
find a cure for leukemia and its related cancers. More than 500 volunteers
have completed the program at the regional level to date, raising in excess of
$1 million to benefit research, public and professional education, and patient
and community service programs of the Leukemia Society in Eastern
Pennsylvania.
"Society's problems often appear too enormous for us to confront
effectively on an individual basis, but the truth is -- each of us can make a
big difference in the life of a person battling leukemia," notes Creamer. "In
making this corporate contribution, the people of GMAC Commercial Mortgage
will be right alongside all of the marathoners, stride for stride, as they go
the distance to take us one step closer to a cure."
For one GMACCM executive in particular, supporting the Leukemia Society
means trading in the customary wing-tips for running shoes. Executive vice
president Barry Alan Moore and his wife, Karen, will be among the anticipated
700 Team In Training members from throughout the U.S. attempting to raise
funds by completing the 26.2 mile course in Dublin on October 27. The couple
will be running in honor of Mary Byrd Ewell, a four-year-old leukemia patient
from Philadelphia.
In addition to the event in Ireland, the fall series will include
marathons in Chicago and Atlantic City on October 19 and Philadelphia on
November 23.
"The generous support and personal involvement which GMAC Commercial
Mortgage is extending to the Leukemia Society symbolize the impact which
businesses and individuals can have in the fight against the leading disease
killer of children," notes Ryan. "While 78 percent of children stricken with
leukemia today survive, compared to only five percent 30 years ago, the battle
is still far from won. Further advances depend upon research, and
contributions are urgently needed to help find a cure within our lifetime."
Specializing in multifamily and commercial lending and servicing, GMAC
Commercial Mortgage maintains a coast-to-coast network of more than 30
origination offices. The organization provides a wide range of innovative
financial products and services, including long-term, interim and construction
financing.
