ORANGE COUNTY, Calif., Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Interactive Media (CIM)
announced today the opening of its Orange County Interactive Studio. Designed
to provide the Orange County community with unique online opportunities for
information and interaction, CIM's Orange County Studio will create city and
specialty sites with content tailored specifically to the needs and interests
of the area's online users. In addition, the studio will work in tandem with
Cox@Home in Orange County to make localized information available via high-
speed, cable Internet access with unprecedented speed, digital video and
sound, vivid animation and 3D graphics.
The opening of the Orange County Studio follows on the heels of several
nationwide studio openings, including those in Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte,
Dayton, Miami, Orlando, Pittsburgh, San Diego, San Francisco and West Palm
Beach. In 1997 CIM will launch almost 25 studios in metropolitan areas across
the country.
As manager for the Orange County Studio, Braxton Jarratt is leading the
studio in its efforts to build specialized online content. Jarratt brings a
wealth of experience in new media to CIM. Prior to joining CIM, Jarratt
created and managed interactive publishing divisions for two major media and
technology companies, including New Times, Inc., one of the nation's largest
publishers of major metropolitan newsweeklies. Jarratt has also formed and
managed content deals with America Online, Yahoo and other national online
brands.
"I am thrilled to work in an organization with such strong links to its
local communities. Because of our ties with Cox-owned media, we have a great
advantage in building successful city and specialty sites," said Jarratt.
"I'm really looking forward to presenting the local community with Web sites
that are truly compelling and tailored specifically to the Orange County
community."
Peter Winter, president of CIM, sees the Orange County market as a natural
fit for the company. "Orange County is a perfect match for Cox Interactive
Media. The large online community in the area will benefit from CIM's ability
to provide them experiences they will not find anywhere else on the Web," said
Winter. "We look forward to partnering with other Cox-owned media in the area
to create sites characterized by a 'locals-only' flavor with dynamic and
robust content."
Cox partners in the area, such as Cox Communications in Orange County,
share Winter's enthusiasm and cooperative spirit. "We welcome Cox Interactive
Media to Orange County," said Leo Brennan, vice president and general manager
of Cox Communications. "CIM's presence here offers great enhancements to
Cox@Home, enabling us to offer a wealth of local information through high
speed cable access to the Internet. We hope to break new ground in servicing
our community through the use of our combined resources."
