Soura Joins Banc One to Head up New National Treasury Management Function
    COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 28 /PRNewswire/ --  Ronald G. Steinhart, Chairman
and Chief Executive Officer of Banc One Corporation's (NYSE: ONE) Commercial
Banking Group, has named Marshall P. Soura Executive Vice President of
National Treasury Management.
    Soura, 57, will be responsible for leading Banc One's Treasury Management
business nationwide, including developing and marketing products and services
to commercial customers.  He reports in Dallas to Tyree B. Miller, Director of
the Commercial Banking Group.
    Soura has spent the majority of this 30-year banking career in the cash
management business.  He joins Banc One after 13 years with Bank of America in
San Francisco where he was in charge of global cash management.  Most
recently, he helped manage the turn around and subsequent sale of that
company's institutional trust business.
    Steinhart said that Soura's appointment was another step in a series Banc
One has taken over the past year to reinforce the company's commitment to its
corporate customers.  "Banc One intends to be a national leader in providing
financial solutions to our commercial customers," he said.  "We will benefit
from Marshall's vast knowledge and experience in marketing products to our
commercial customers."
    A Pennsylvania native, Soura graduated from Philadelphia's LaSalle
University in 1965.  He spent 23 years with Mellon Bank and its predecessor
institutions in Philadelphia before joining Bank of America in 1983.  He is a
graduate of the Stonier School of Banking at Rutgers University.
    Banc One Corporation had assets of $101.8 billion and common equity of
$8.4 billion at December 31, 1996 and operates 1,502 banking offices
