HACKENSACK, N.J., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas J. Spackman, M.D.,
F.A.C.R., has indicated to the Board of Directors that he does not wish to
extend his contract as president and CEO of Elscint, Inc., said Jonathan
Adereth, president and CEO of Elscint, Ltd. Dr. Spackman will continue to
serve Elscint as an active member of the Board of Directors and as a
consultant.
Dr. Spackman began his relationship with Elscint, Inc. in 1991 as a member
of the Board of Directors. In December, 1993 he was named president and CEO,
becoming the first radiologist to lead a major medical equipment manufacturer.
Since he assumed leadership of the company, Elscint, Inc. has increased
equipment sales in CT, MRI and Nuclear Medicine, reorganized into a business
unit structure, and engaged in precedent-setting partnerships with leading
medical imaging companies in order to share technology, expertise and leverage
now distribution channels.

technologies and products," stated Dr. Spackman. "From the outset, my role
was to combine that strength with a customer-driven environment, focusing on
the needs of radiologists and health systems in today's healthcare industry.
Elscint now has in place the service philosophy that attracts and retains a

In concert with Dr. Spackman's departure, pending Board approval, Peter
Annand was promoted to chief operating officer from senior vice-president of
operations and Sandra Serrett-Curran was promoted to senior vice-president
from vice-president of finance. Mr. Annand and Ms. Serrett-Curran will
oversee the day-to-day duties previously handled by Dr. Spackman. Elscint
recently announced the appointment of Chuck Armstrong as vice-president of the
CT/MRI business line.

Prior to joining Elscint in 1993, Dr. Spackman was the director of the
radiology department at Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford,
Conn., and the president of Radiology Associates of Hartford. In addition,
Dr. Spackman served as professor and chairman of the Department of Radiology
at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in Farmington,
Connecticut. He has also served on the medical school faculty of Yale
University in New Haven, Connecticut, and the University of Pennsylvania in
Philadelphia.
