    The launch makes information on ARCO Chemical's financial, environmental,
product and career opportunities accessible on the net to customers,
stockholders, prospective employees and plant communities around the world, as
well as the general public.
    According to Douglas J. Pike, project manager, the greatest challenge in
designing the site was finding the right "content chemistry," or mix of
information, to satisfy the company's diverse global audiences.  "We decided
to start out with broad brush strokes outlining all potential areas of
interest," he explained.
    "The site is a work in progress, and we do plan to add more detail in the
coming months," he explained.  "However, I'm confident that we met our initial
objective: to create an effective interface for use by the chemical community
and other interested parties that reflects our commitment to providing the
