Carnavos Appointed to Lead Power/Simulation, Process, Oil & Gas, and Corporate Operations

    COLUMBIA, Md., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- GSE Systems, Inc.
(Nasdaq-NNM: GSES), a leading global provider of integrated enterprise
software and information solutions to the energy, process  and manufacturing
industries, today announced the promotion of Mr. Chris Carnavos to Senior
Executive Vice President.  In this capacity,  Mr. Carnavos will continue to
manage the domestic Process and Oil & Gas businesses and Corporate R&D in
addition to assuming the following areas of responsibility for the Company:

    -- International Process and Oil & Gas operations located in Brussels,
       Singapore, Korea and Taiwan.
    -- Power/Simulation operations headquartered in Columbia, Maryland.
    -- Corporate operations headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, including
       Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, Legal, and Information
       Systems.

responsibilities.  We have further consolidated our Simulation and Automation
businesses under his leadership to further improve our support to customers

    Mr. Carnavos joined GSE in January 1997 as Senior Vice President and
previously held a variety of senior management positions within the industry
at companies such as Johnson-Yokogawa, ABB, Bailey Controls, and Digital
Equipment Corporation.  Mr. Carnavos will continue to report to Mr. Feldman.
    Mr. Robert Stroup, who has served as Executive Vice President since the
formation of the Company, will assume the Finance and Accounting functions
from Mr. Michael J. Cromwell, who has resigned from the company to pursue
personal interests.  Mr. Stroup will report directly to Mr. Carnavos.
