CHICAGO, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- EVEREN Securities, Inc. announced today
that during the six months ended June 30, 1997, its Real Estate Group served
as underwriters or advisors to 11 separate clients in 12 transactions totaling
approximately $1 billion.  Capital-raising efforts were concentrated in the
common equity and preferred markets and included multiple offerings for
existing public companies as well as four initial public offerings (IPOs).
The IPOs included two for commercial office real estate investment trusts
(REITs), one for a mortgage banking REIT and another for an operator of
timeshare resorts.
    EVEREN's Real Estate Group is made up of 10 professionals on two teams,
one focusing on public capital raising and the other on the private capital
market and advisory work.  "In addition to leveraging EVEREN's traditionally
strong retail and institutional sales network on behalf of our public clients,

equity capital for high-quality private real estate companies and advises on
