Sales Benefit Habitat For Humanity
ATLANTA, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The team of "genuinely warped Atlanta-
based individuals" who brought us http://www.yall.com, has compiled a mouth-watering
CD companion for its hip Southern website, proclaiming it "the best damn
Southern sampler you've ever heard." Featuring bands from Six Mile, S.C. to
Austin, Texas, Ya'll: The CD showcases 19 independent-but-likely-to-sign-with-
a-label-any-day-now bands. (In fact, Athens, Ga.-based "Five Eight" joined
Velvel Records shortly after the CD was produced and its cross-town "rival"
"Trinket" is currently in negotiation with a major label.) Proceeds from CD
sales on both the website and the ongoing concert tour benefit Habitat for
Humanity, one of the South's most successful charitable programs.
Y'all: The CD opens listeners' ears to a range of talent outside the now-
stereotypical Southern sounds of R.E.M. and Hootie & the Blowfish, exposing
them to eclectic, sometimes twisted, sometimes soulful sounds from garage pop
and cabaret punk to rock-a-billy and swing to funk and R&B.
Music fans can listen to excerpts from the CD at http://www.yall.com (no
apostrophe necessary) -- the self-declared "webzine of the South" -- on the
"Y'all CD Drive-Thru" page. Requirements are: A current version of Shockwave
Plugin (available for download from a link on the site), a 28.8 modem, a sound
card and "that Y'all spirit." Interested buyers can purchase the CD on the
site for $10 at the "Y'all Mart," where other yall.com goodies, like t-shirts
and ball-caps are also sold.
For a live listen, check out yall.com's free CD tour, currently making its
way around the South. The tour started Labor Day Weekend in Charlotte, N.C.,
and continued on to Chapel Hill, N.C. and Louisville, Ky. Future stops

and Nashville, Tenn. (Oct. 10). Visit yall.com to read about the bands and
