Fulcrum Delivers Hybrid Web/CD Publishing Solution With
Powerful Search Functionality At Its Core
OTTAWA, Canada, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ - Fulcrum Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:
FULCF; TSE: FUL) today announced the availability of Fulcrum WebCD, a
compelling hybrid Web/CD publishing solution combining the capacity and speed
of CD-ROM for information delivery with the flexibility of the Web for
providing just-in-time updates. Unique to the product are the easy to use
wizards that literally allow developers to build master images of Web content
within hours. Built with Fulcrum SearchServer(TM), the industry-leading
retrieval software, Fulcrum WebCD is also a powerful publishing solution that
searches both content and metadata, a key benefit to database and product
catalogue publishers.
Fulcrum WebCD is particularly suited to corporate publishing applications
where there is a combination of dynamic and static information, such as that
found in customer service databases, product catalogues, policies and
procedures manuals, employee handbooks, and technical and repair manuals. The
ability to update information via the Web ensures that customers save money on
producing and distributing updates of the same CD. Commercial publishers who
have long turned to Fulcrum to provide robust searching in their offerings
will also benefit from Fulcrum WebCD because it is easily customized for their
unique application requirements.
``This new offering will allow us to strengthen our leadership in
delivering robust software for corporate and commercial publishing,'' said
Peter Klante, vice president of marketing at Fulcrum. ``We are committed to
the delivery of tools, such as Fulcrum WebCD, that allow our current customers
to extend their Fulcrum applications, and that provide all customers with the
ability to deploy complete corporate or commercial publishing with an
integrated Web/CD solution.''
