MINNEAPOLIS, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ --
American Medical Systems (Nasdaq: AMMD), the leading independent
manufacturer of surgical devices for urologists and their patients, reported
that it expects sales during the year ended December 31, 2000, to reach
approximately $100.3 million, a 23 percent increase over sales of
$81.4 million in 1999. This revenue level is the highest ever achieved in the
company's 28-year history.

American Medical Systems (AMS) also reported that it expects revenues of
$26.7 million for its fiscal quarter ended December 31, 2000, a 24 percent
increase over sales of $21.6 million in the same quarter last year.
Douglas W. Kohrs, AMS president and CEO, commented: "We are pleased to
have finished both our second quarter as a public company and the year with
strong revenue results. Exceeding $100 million in revenues during 2000 is a
significant milestone for AMS. This accomplishment provides us with

The company plans to announce its product line sales and complete
financial results on January 30, 2001, at approximately 3:00 p.m. CST and
