Solectron to Provide Xbox(TM) Warranty and Repair Services for Microsoft In Japan and Australia

    MILPITAS, Calif., March 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Solectron Corporation
(NYSE: SLR), the world's leading provider of electronics manufacturing and
supply-chain management services, said today that its Global Services business
unit will provide after-sales service and support for the Microsoft Xbox(TM)
video game console in Japan and Australia.  Financial terms of the three-year
agreement were not disclosed.

    Under the agreement, Solectron will perform all warranty and non-warranty
repair, and refurbishment for Microsoft's video-game console in Japan and
Australia. Solectron intends to service the Xbox at its fast-depot centers in
Koriyama, Japan, and Sydney, Australia.  In October 2001, Microsoft chose
Solectron to provide similar services for the Xbox in North America.

    Solectron provides a range of after-sales services, including:  product
repair, upgrades, re-manufacturing and maintenance through factory and
fast-depot repair service centers; help-desk support through end-user call-in
centers; logistics and parts management; asset recovery; returns processing;
warehousing; engineering change management and end-of-life manufacturing.
Solectron's Global Services business unit operates more than 40 sites on five
continents.
