AvalonBay Communities Announces First Quarter 2002 Earnings Release and Conference Call Date

    ALEXANDRIA, Va., April 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AVALONBAY COMMUNITIES,
INC. (NYSE: AVB; PCX) announced today that it will release first quarter 2002
earnings on April 30, 2002 after the market closes and hold its first quarter
conference call on May 1, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

the call will be available from May 1, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time until
