PHOENIX, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- AG Communication Systems, a subsidiary of
Lucent Technologies, and Triton PCS (Nasdaq: TPCS), the first member of the
AT&T Wireless Services network of affiliates, have signed a joint marketing
and referral agreement that enables Triton PCS to market the ROAMEO(R)
wireless office phone system to its customers.
Triton PCS will market ROAMEO in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina,
Georgia and northeastern Tennessee where it operates a digital wireless
network. Triton PCS will offer its customers the ROAMEO system for their
in-building wireless needs. AG Communication Systems will provide turnkey
sales, installation and maintenance support for customers. The synergy
provides customers complete mobility inside and outside of their offices by
integrating office and wireless voice communications.
"We're committed to providing our customers with superior wireless
services," said Shekhar Deshpande, vice president of engineering at Triton
PCS. "With the ROAMEO wireless office solution, we can now offer unmatched
'anytime-anywhere' convenience to our customers."
"We are pleased to work with Triton PCS in introducing this important
productivity enhancement to its customers across the southeast," said Chuck
Hellquist, vice president of wireless products for AG Communication Systems.
"ROAMEO allows Triton PCS's business customers to be more efficient and
competitive because it frees them from their traditional workspace."
AG Communication Systems' ROAMEO is an adjunct to existing PBX, Centrex or
key office phone systems that allows a standard cellular/PCS phone to act as a
wireless extension of subscribers' desk phones. The system allows users to
make and receive calls and utilize all the features of their office phones
(such as call transfer and forwarding, 4- or 5-digit dialing, and three-way
calling) with a wireless phone anywhere in a building or campus environment.
Calls within range of the system incur no per-minute airtime charges.
Subscribers can use the same handset in the external wireless environment,
giving them "one-number-reaches-you-anywhere" convenience.
Triton PCS, based in Berwyn, Pa., is licensed to build and operate a
digital wireless network in a contiguous area covering more than 13 million
people in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, northern Georgia,
northeastern Tennessee and southeastern Kentucky. The company markets its
services under the brand SunCom, a member of the AT&T Wireless Network. In
January 1999, Triton PCS became the first AT&T Wireless Services affiliate to
offer service to customers in its region as a member of the AT&T Wireless
