BrightStor Solution Provides Bare-Metal Recovery of Windows and UNIX Systems
At the National Taiwan Normal University
ISLANDIA, N.Y. and TAIPEI, Taiwan, April 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) today announced that National
Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) adopted BrightStor Enterprise Backup for its
newly established remote backup location. BrightStor Enterprise Backup
delivers data reliability and improved productivity, in a cost-effective
manner, while ensuring the availability and security of the massive data
traffic between NTNU's two campuses. NTNU already enhances its eBusiness
management efficiency with CA's Unicenter and eTrust solutions.
Like many organizations, NTNU reviewed plans for protecting mission-
critical information after the September 11th terrorist attacks. ASSC, CA's
channel partner in Taiwan, recommended CA's BrightStor Enterprise Backup as
the remote backup software of choice to support NTNU's disaster recovery plan,
based in part on its ability to easily provide bare-metal recovery for both
Windows and UNIX systems.
NTNU is deploying BrightStor Enterprise Backup agents with Unicenter
Database Management Solutions to manage the availability and performance of
Sybase databases on UNIX and Windows NT.
"The heterogeneity of our IT environment created a layer of complexity
that we were able to overcome with BrightStor Enterprise Backup," said Dr.
Greg C. Lee, Director of Computing Center of NTNU.
Cross-platform support, outstanding backup, and fast recovery performance
make BrightStor Enterprise Backup an ideal solution for NTNU. "Since the
implementation of Unicenter two years ago, CA has offered NTNU valuable
solutions that meet our evolving needs," said Dr. Lee. "We chose BrightStor
Enterprise Backup because of its superior technology, coupled with CA's
flexible pricing and high level of customer service," said Dr. Lee.
Unicenter technology is managing the school's massive, diverse platforms
and applications. CA's eTrust Intrusion Detection and eTrust Single Sign-On
administer the use of computer facilities by nearly 10,000 students and
faculty members, providing secure access for authorized users and protecting
against unauthorized usage.
"NTNU is delighted with the value CA technology brings to data management,
protection, and system management efficiency," Dr. Lee stated. "We derive
great functionality and efficiency with CA's eBusiness management solutions
and look forward to extending CA's innovative technology into more areas of
our IT management."
