About Korean National Railroad
Korean National Railroad (Korail), formerly the Northwest Railroad
Department in the home ministry of the Chosun dynasty, was established in
September 1899. In September 1963, it became independent as the National
Railroad Administration and since then it has been managed as an independent
profit system and a special account. In 1999, Korail celebrated its 100th
anniversary and is being highlighted as the nation's main transport artery
with the era of the high-speed railroad and a unified Korea ahead. Korail
expects the opening of its railroad customer service center last February to
contribute considerably to its railroad management and profits and to provide
momentum for it to form a foundation for eBusiness. For more information,
