PHOENIX, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- AG Communication Systems, a subsidiary
of Lucent Technologies, and Cellular One in the San Francisco Bay Area have
signed a joint marketing agreement that will enable Cellular One to offer the
ROAMEO(R) wireless office telephone system to its customers.
AG Communication Systems' ROAMEO is an adjunct to existing PBX, Centrex or
key systems that allows a standard TDMA digital wireless phone to act as a
cordless extension of subscribers' desk phones. The system allows users to
make and receive calls and utilize all the features of their office phones
(such as call transfer and forwarding, call waiting, and three-way calling)
with a wireless phone anywhere in a building or campus environment.
Calls within range of the system incur no per-minute airtime charges.
Subscribers can use the same handset in the external wireless environment,
giving them "one-number-reaches-you-anywhere" convenience. This solution is
unique to the IS-136 TDMA digital technology. Cellular One is the only
wireless company in the Bay Area to provide this service.
Cellular One and AG Communication Systems will market the service in the
Greater San Francisco Bay Area. In this joint marketing relationship,
AG Communication Systems will provide turnkey sales, installation and
maintenance support for Cellular One's customers. Cellular One will continue
to be the customers' single point of contact for this product as well as all
other wireless products Cellular One provides.
"Cellular One is extending its superiority in outdoor wireless coverage
and reliability to indoor wireless communications," said Chip Canter, product
manager for Cellular One. "Offering an integrated, in-building wireless
service supports our strategy of delivering high-quality communications
solutions to meet our business customers' needs."
"We know that by combining Cellular One's superior offerings in the
wireless market with our ROAMEO System, customers will quickly embrace this
innovative technology that allows them to become more competitive and
productive," said Charles Schulz, Vice President and General Manager of
Wireless products for AG Communication Systems. "With ROAMEO, Cellular One
subscribers will never miss an important call, regardless of where they are,"
he added.
