AG Communication Systems To Showcase Hosted Business Solutions, Deliver Keynote Address at Communications Solutions Expo Spring 2001

PHOENIX, May 23 /PRNewswire/ -- AG Communication Systems, a subsidiary of
Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU), will showcase two of its award-winning
network-based business communications solutions -- the iMerge Centrex Feature
Gateway (CFG) and ClientCare Call Center Deluxe Edition -- next week at the
Communications Solutions Expo Spring 2001. Scheduled for May 23-25 at the
Washington Convention Center, the event is expected to draw more than 15,000
communications professionals from leading companies across North America.
Highlighted in the company's booth will be a live interoperability
demonstration of the iMerge CFG with several voice-over-Internet-protocol
(VoIP) endpoints. The interoperability demonstration will show how iMerge CFG
offers more value to customers by being easier to deploy and manage and
because it works with one of the largest and most diverse selections of VoIP
endpoints in the industry.
In addition, Ken Arndt, vice president of marketing, will deliver a
conference keynote address entitled, "Technology and the Computer Telephony
Marketplace: The New Paradigm" on May 23 at 4 p.m.
"Worker mobility and e-commerce are quickly changing the
computer-telephony landscape," said Arndt. "The emergence of the Internet as
an essential business tool is driving new business applications, and wireless
technologies are already part of day-to-day living. These factors, coupled
with ongoing regulatory issues and geographic boundaries, are having a
profound effect on the way the enterprise and contact centers do business."
Arndt will examine the technologies that directly affect this marketplace,
the social and regulatory environments surrounding the enterprise, and the
end-user needs of its vertical markets. Utilizing market data and current
economic conditions to differentiate hype from reality, he will present
solutions for fiscal success, including how to maximize business revenues
through telecommunications portals.
AG Communication Systems representatives will deliver additional
presentations during the conference. These presentations include:

-- "Adding Value to Traditional Offerings with Hosted Communications
        Services" on May 23 at 9:30 a.m.
-- "Government Applications for IP Telephony Enhanced Services" on May 23
        at 2:30 p.m.
-- "The Future of the Packet Telephony Marketplace" also on May 23 at
        2:30 p.m.
-- "Leveraging Existing Network Infrastructure for VoIP" on May 24 at
        4:30 p.m.

The iMerge CFG extends office Centrex features over packet networks,
giving users a powerful voice-over-Internet-protocol (VoIP) service. The
product combines the inherent reliability of the public switched telephone
network with the cost-saving advantages of packet technology. It gives
carriers powerful new ways to deliver the business applications customers are
demanding, including multilocation Centrex, virtual office features, seamless
work environments for teleworkers and virtual call centers. iMerge CFG is a
central element of Lucent's 7R/E Packet Solutions portfolio of products
designed to bring packet capabilities to both traditional circuit and
converged circuit-packet networks.
ClientCare economically transforms hosted telephone systems at small- and
medium-sized businesses into sophisticated call centers. It allows
subscribers to cost-effectively manage their customer contacts with many of
the professional sales and service capabilities traditionally associated with
much larger companies through a switch-independent, network-based application.
With ClientCare Call Center DE, enterprise customers get inbound call handling
and routing that can be blended with sophisticated outbound campaigns and a
comprehensive Internet Suite of services, enabling agents to simultaneously
handle voice, e-mail, fax, chat, call-back and call-through queries.
AG Communication Systems, a subsidiary of Lucent Technologies, offers
service providers advanced network-based solutions, including circuit and
packet switching, voice-over-Internet protocol (VoIP) and IP Centrex, call
center and integrated access products. The Phoenix-based company develops
