PHOENIX, June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- AG Communication Systems, a subsidiary of
Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU), and U.S. Cellular (Amex: USM) have signed a
joint marketing agreement that will enable U.S. Cellular to offer the
ROAMEO(R) wireless office telephone system to its customers.
AG Communication Systems' ROAMEO is an adjunct to existing PBX, Centrex or
key systems that allows a standard TDMA digital wireless phone to act as a
cordless extension of subscribers' desk phones. The system allows users to
make and receive calls and utilize all the features of their office phones
(such as call transfer and forwarding, call waiting, and three-way calling)
with a wireless phone anywhere in a building or campus environment.
Calls within range of the system incur no per-minute airtime charges.
Subscribers can use the same handset in the external wireless environment,
giving them "one-number-reaches-you-anywhere" convenience.
U.S. Cellular and AG Communication Systems will promote ROAMEO in
145 markets that U.S. Cellular serves. In this joint marketing relationship,
AG Communication Systems will provide turnkey sales, installation and
maintenance support for U.S. Cellular's customers. U.S. Cellular will
continue to be the customers' single point of contact for this product as well
as all other wireless products U.S. Cellular provides.
"U.S. Cellular is committed to providing its customers with superior
wireless services, and by offering an integrated, in-building solution like
ROAMEO we can assure unparalleled convenience of 'anytime, anywhere'
communication," said Larry Sipovic, Product Development Manager for U.S.
Cellular. "Beyond convenience, ROAMEO dramatically increases efficiency
because it allows you to become untethered from your traditional workspace,"
he added.
"We are pleased to partner with U.S. Cellular to offer an in-building
wireless solution that will allow customers to be more productive and
competitive," said Charles Schulz, Vice President and General Manager of
Wireless products for AG Communication Systems. "With ROAMEO, subscribers can
be reached with one number and one handset, making it easy for them to always
stay in touch."
