PHOENIX, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- AG Communication Systems, a subsidiary of
Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU), today announced the deployment of its Wireless
Prepaid Service (WPS) software solution throughout Clearnet Communications
Inc.'s (Nasdaq: CLNTF; Toronto: NET.A) (Clearnet) digital wireless PCS network
in Canada.
This deployment further strengthens AG Communication Systems' position as
a major provider of wireless prepaid solutions. The product operates on an
SCP utilizing SS7 signaling for centralized operation and consistent coverage
throughout geographically-dispersed networks. The product uses a triggerless
implementation via ISUP messaging and requires no specialized software on the
mobile switches.
"The worldwide wireless prepaid market is growing at a very rapid pace.
AG Communication Systems provides a cost-effective, feature-rich, scalable
product that helps carriers fully capture this huge revenue potential today,"
said Ajit Sadarangani, Director of Product Planning and Marketing for
AG Communication System's Platform Applications Group. "Further, INgage(R)
WPS is fully upgradeable to use Wireless Intelligent Network (WIN) triggers,
based on standards defined by the Telecommunication Industry Association
(TIA)."
"AG Communication Systems has a long history of providing innovative,
network-based, value-added solutions," said Charles Schulz, Vice President and
General Manager of the Platform Applications Group for AG Communication
Systems. "Due to the innovative features of this product delivered to
Clearnet, we believe we are uniquely positioned to deliver a prepaid solution
of unparalleled power and functionality."
"We evaluated several wireless prepaid products and chose AG Communication
Systems because of their cost-effective and scalable solution, which can
fulfill our current and future market needs," said Stephen Howe, Clearnet's
Vice President, Technology.
The current version of INgage WPS includes such features as a rating
engine that allows for local calling minutes to be automatically deposited
into client accounts each month. If additional airtime is needed, it can be
purchased over the phone by credit card through an Interactive Voice Response
(IVR) system. Clients can purchase extra airtime for additional local and
long-distance calls. INgage WPS also includes a convenient, automatic monthly
airtime payment schedule and the capacity to buy additional airtime over the
phone, without the need to purchase extra prepaid cards. Clearnet includes
free local birthday calling as well.
Wireless Prepaid Service is one of several value-added network solutions
offered through the INgage product line. Others include complete wireline and
wireless number portability services, authorization and call routing
equipment, calling party pays, enhanced toll-free and wireless 800 services.
