AG Communication Systems Announces General Availability of ROAMEO Digital Wireless Office Telephone System

Integrates Office and Wireless Voice Communications Into
                            Single, Mobile Handset

PHOENIX, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- AG Communication Systems, a subsidiary of
Lucent Technologies, today announced the general availability of its ROAMEO(R)
TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access), 1900-MHz-based digital wireless office
telephone system, after successful product testing.
An adjunct to existing PBX, Centrex, or key systems, ROAMEO enables a
standard wireless phone to act as a cordless extension of subscribers' desk
phones. The system allows users to make and receive calls and utilize all the
features of their office phones (such as call transfer, call waiting and
three-way calling) with a wireless phone anywhere in a building or campus
environment. Calls within range of the system incur no per-minute airtime
charges. Subscribers can use the same handset in the external wireless
environment giving them "one-number-reaches-you anywhere" convenience.
ROAMEO has been tested successfully in labs, trials and field tests by
leading service providers, including AT&T Wireless Services, which markets
ROAMEO as part of its next-generation Wireless Office Service (WOS). The
recent completion of a successful First Office Application (FOA) of ROAMEO
with a leading pharmaceutical benefits company in Scottsdale, Ariz. was the
last milestone before moving it to general availability.
"With the FOA behind us, we are pleased to offer a new level of
integration between wireline and wireless communications, to all customers,"
said Charles Schulz, vice president and general manager of wireless products
for AG Communication Systems. "This is a product offering that provides
wireless phone users with unparalleled freedom, wherever they are," he added.
"We anticipate strong growth in demand for enhanced digital wireless
services and expanded capacity over the next two years," said David Berndt,
Associate Director of Wireless Mobile Communications at The Yankee Group, an
industry analyst firm. "This demand will target new in-building digital
licensed band offerings that are unique to the IS-136 version of TDMA.
In-building TDMA systems like ROAMEO can address new market opportunities,
such as enterprise environments that utilize in-building wireless systems as a
powerful productivity tool, and at the same time improve the service offering
to all existing cellular/PCS coverage markets."
ROAMEO is easy to install because it supports standard telephone systems
technology, including existing analog cellular or digital TDMA 1900-MHz
handsets. The system supports up to 2,000 registered users and up to 300
digital traffic channels. With ROAMEO, there are no access codes or menus to
master. By simply turning on the wireless handset, ROAMEO automatically
registers and communicates with the office telephone system and the outside
wireless network. This coordination ensures that all incoming calls find
users so they have more time to conduct business, wherever they are.
