TO BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY EDITORS:

AG Communication Systems Arms Royal Bahamas Police Force
                          With JusticeTrax LIMS-Plus

PHOENIX, July 27 /PRNewswire/ -- AG Communication Systems, a subsidiary of
Lucent Technologies, today announced that it has successfully completed final
acceptance testing of its JusticeTrax(R) LIMS-plus(TM) case management
software at the Royal Bahamas Police Force, Forensic Science Section.
JusticeTrax LIMS-plus case management software solution is a Microsoft(R)
Windows(R)-based case management software solution that collects, compiles and
manages case information. It automatically assigns a unique barcode to each
evidence submission for accurate chain-of-custody tracking and evidence
location management. Developed by forensic scientists for the forensic lab,
this Open Database Connectivity (ODBC)-compliant solution has customizable
features and performs a variety of searches. The system comes complete with
five analytical modules, generates several comprehensive reports and has
ad-hoc reporting capabilities.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force, Forensic Science Section, located in
Nassau, Bahamas, is a full-service lab that performs services in Toxicology,
Blood Alcohol, Serology, Firearms and Chemistry. Serving only the Royal
Bahamas Police Force, the forensic lab processes approximately 3,000 cases
annually which includes more than 10,000 pieces of evidence. A 5 percent
increase in case load work is expected this year.
Prior to the installation of LIMS-plus, the Royal Bahamas Forensic Science
Section had been using a manual evidence tracking system, PCs for writing
reports and a basic database program for tracking analysts' case loads. The
forensic lab chose JusticeTrax LIMS-plus after visiting a JusticeTrax customer
and concluded that, compared to other commercial laboratory information
management systems, LIMS-plus was best suited for its lab. The Royal Bahamas
Forensic Science Section's packaged LIMS-plus system included a complete suite
of five discipline-specific analytic modules, Crystal Reports(R) for ad-hoc
reporting and bar code hardware and software.
With the implementation of LIMS-plus, the Royal Bahamas Police Force,
Forensic Science Section now has a user-friendly system in place that will
increase overall productivity, reduce evidence turn-around time, track work
loads and virtually eliminate paperwork. The application generates a variety
of statistical reports, relates evidence and requests for analysis, tracks
chain-of-custody of evidence submissions and eliminates the forensic lab's
need for manual submission forms.
