| Ohio State Highway Patrol Equips Crime Lab with AG Communication Systems' JusticeTrax LIMS-plus |
PHOENIX, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- AG Communication Systems, a subsidiary of
Lucent Technologies, today announced that it has successfully completed final
acceptance testing of its JusticeTrax(R) LIMS-plus(TM) case management
software at the Ohio State Highway Patrol Crime Lab in Columbus, Ohio.
JusticeTrax LIMS-plus case management software solution is a Microsoft(R)
Windows(R)-based software solution that collects case management information
from the moment evidence is entered into the system until it is disposed of by
the lab. LIMS-plus automatically assigns a unique bar code to each evidence
submission for accurate chain-of-custody processing and evidence location
management.
The Ohio State Patrol Crime Lab had been using a custom-built in-house
case tracking system for several years. The Lab processes more than 10,000
cases annually and provides services primarily in Toxicology, Blood Alcohol
and Drug Chemistry with some services in Trace, Serology and Fingerprints.
In the last three years, the Crime Lab has experienced a 20 percent
increase in its caseload. Faced with this increase and an aging in-house
system, the Ohio State Patrol sought a commercially available, Industry-proven
case management system that would reduce evidence login time, analyze and
search evidence items, and reduce time required to compile statistics and
produce reports.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol purchased JusticeTrax LIMS-plus after it
concluded that, compared to other commercial laboratory information management
systems, LIMS-plus was best suited for its crime lab. Their packaged system
included a complete suite of five discipline-specific analytical modules,
Crystal Reports(R) for ad-hoc reporting and bar code hardware and software.
With the implementation of LIMS-plus, the Ohio State Highway Patrol Crime
Lab now has a user-friendly system in place that will increase their overall
productivity, reduce evidence turn-around time, and virtually eliminate
paperwork freeing their administrators to perform other duties. The
application generates a variety of statistical reports, relates evidence and
requests for analysis, tracks chain-of-custody of evidence submissions and
eliminates the Lab's need for manual submission forms.
